TUNE-UP TIPS
Like all precision equipment, CP® Nozzles perform better with good maintenance. During the season, make sure that the stainless steel nuts are tight enough to provide heavy drag on the seals, as nuts may loosen through vibration and repeated orifice changes. This will minimize debris accumulation around seal and detent ball and spring.
We recommend the following be done prior to the beginning of each new season:
- Holding the nozzle upright, remove nut and tip wheel. Turn nozzle upside down catching the detent spring and ball on a towel. Blow out detent chamber. Thoroughly wipe all dust residue from seal, selector, deflector wheel and nozzle body.
- Fill detent spring chamber with marine bearing grease. Push spring and detent ball into chamber. Install tips, tip wheel, washer and nut.
- Tighten nut so there is heavy drag on the seal.
This maintenance is especially recommended when liquid fertilizer has been used. Liquid fertilizer can be drying enough to cause the detent to lock, if not well lubricated.
